Good Afternoon Forum,

I am new here, so sorry if the question is pedestrian…

I am aware that 'keychain' often fills in email, login and password info.

i have noticed however that at time it does not.

my question is this:

is there a way to program the "F1" key (for example) to enter an email address?

similarly, is there a way to have other 'function' keys (or for that matter, any key combination) enter a password or other string of characters?

i suspect the answer is apple scripts but i am unsure.

thanks in advance…

Check out Quicksilver... it's a scriptable app that lets you call up complex series of commands with just a few keystrokes. I don't know if it would help in this situation or not, but I'd look into it. Also makes a great app launcher, file finder, and juliennes fries. (Ok, not the last part - or at least I haven't found the script to do it.)

I swear by 1Password. Besides simply saving login names/passwords for various sites, you can also set up identities for filling in forms and maintain a database of software registration details.
