The conflict between Apple and Adobe over Flash has been about business models and control of platforms, says Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen. Speaking at the D9 conference, the executive remarked that using Flash, a developer can author code once and have it in wide distribution. Some 130 million Flash-capable phones will be in circulation by the end of the year, Narayen estimates....

He hasn't heard of or simply ignores HTML 5.

And while Adobe's digital publishing suite is a good move it is fatally flawed. In order to publish anything you have to pay a hefty fee based on the amount of subscribers or downloads you get. That's fine for paid commercial publications, but if you are a non profit, charity or want to publish free information, then the fees are a barrier.

Adobe should get you to pay for the tools to publish information, not tax the distribution. We are now in the internet age, and users should be free to choose whether to monetise their product or publish it freely.

After all, I can create a pdf in InDesign and send it to anybody without paying out for every end user,
