How do I disable USB access in MAC system

Hi Guys,

I'm using MAC OS X Version 10.6.3,
I just want to disable or block the usb access in my system.
I tried to solve it by deleting IOUSBMass storage.kext and IOUSB Family.kext files but after that my mouse and key board got stucked.

please help me if any one have the idea..

You removed USB related files and tried to use a USB keyboard and mouse and are wondering why it isn't working?

For what possible reason do you want to remove USB support from your Mac?

P.S., it's Mac not MAC..

The easiest way is to glue a small square of plastic over the usb ports

Disabling drivers will just effect all USB devices, including a keyboard on a portable

You could also move the file in /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

(move it but dont delete it and leave IOUSBFamily.kext alone)

But why would you want to disable USB ports?

Actually, disabling USB is documented in the OS X Security Configuration documentation, which is available here

Removing USB Support Software
Use the following instructions to remove USB mass storage device input/output
support such as USB Flash drives and external USB hard drives.
The removal of this kernel extension only affects USB mass storage devices. It does not
affect other USB devices such as a USB printer, mouse, or keyboard. This task requires
you to have administrator privileges.
Important: Repeat these instructions every time a system update is installed.

I did not paste the actual instructions

it addresses USB storage, which would still allow your IO devices to work

Install a motion sensor attached to a cattle prod glued your Mac. Then program it so that the prod sends an electric shock to any user who tries to plug in a USB device. Thanks to pavlovian reflexive conditioning, they will soon learn not to do that.

Now if i want to enable the disabled USB port then what should i do.
In the Documentation it says delete the file IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext.
If i want to enable the access of the usb port then what should i need to do.

Don't delete the file. Just rename it, that way when you wish to enable the ports again all you have to do is rename it back.

Note that the procedure outlined in that document only disables USB mass storage functionality, not the USB port itself. You seem to suggest that you want to disable the port in its entirety.
