Wondering if anyone has heard if launchpad can be disabled on OS X Lion, I think it's ugly and wouldn't want to waste money on OS X Lion if I can't get rid of it. If I wanted my MB Air to look like my iPhone, I would buy an iPad instead. Anyone with me?

I'm sure there's some way to disable it, but you also don't have to use it either way, it's not required.

Right, but isn't it like "there", it's more the aesthetics I am worried about. Or is it like expose' now, where it takes a gesture to bring it up? I guess I am super confused about it

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
My aim is to go into an Apple store once it is actually released, and play around with it for a while before I decide whether or not I am upgrading.
Personally, I think this would be a good option for anyone considering upgrading once it's released.

I am pretty sure Schweb is right and it can be disabled or simply not used. We will know soon enough for sure. I would not want it on the screen all the time either, but the demos I have seen around the net seem to show just the Dock also.

You have to do something to bring it up, like Expose. You don't have to use it.

It's disappointing to see such close-mindedness about a feature one hasn't even tried yet.

In my now 30-year experience with Apple, it's not at all unusual for them to add in things I won't personally use much or ever.

But it's VERY rare for them to put in something that's not worth me checking it out to see if it meets my needs with an open mind. I like to think such an attitude (on their part as well as my part) is what makes Apple and Mac users distinctly different from Microsoft and Windows users.

Chas, I do agree, wait and see. Use it. See if it might be nice for some things. I was wondering about some new features on Tiger, Leopard, but I use many of them today.

WAIT is the key word. Try it!! I will.
