I searched here, the link to the shortcut keys, and the keyboard shortcuts part of system preferences and have not found someone having this issue.

All I want to do is minimize all windows and go to the desktop with a keystroke. This function is done in Windows with the windows key + M.

The link says that option + command + M will do this. When I do it, I get the standard mac "boop" sound, thwarting me.

What am I missing?

try fn + f11.

If that dosent work go to system pref > expose & spaces > on the expose tab the second box where it says show desktop should have a key there. Do fn+ that key.

It wont really minimize the windows (just pushes them to the side) but it will show the desktop.
