I have a black macbook purchased 2007. The hard drive died and I installed a new one. I thought I have the correct installation disks OS 10.5 but when I install them the computer won't accept the disk. I also have another mac which I bought in 2008. The discs say they are 2007. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

Only you know which disks are the correct ones. The installation disks for your MacBook and the 2008 Mac are hardware specific and can not be interchanged. The wrong disks will refuse to install. Either that or the optical drive is failing.

Two solutions:

a. Restore your machine from your backup (you had a backup of course).
b. Go to store. Buy Snow Leopard for $30 or Mac Box Set for whatever it costs (includes iLife '11 and iWork '09). Install.
