Colloquy is terrible in my opinion. It has way too many freezes. I would highly recommend Textual. I have tried many different IRC clients for the Mac and this is by far the best, and I continue to use it today.

I have never in 8-9 years ever had a crash with Colloquy. I used to use it 24 hours a day here on the Mac Forums IRC when that was going strong and it never once crashed. IMac G5, Then Intel Mini, 2008 iMac Intel, Macbook and many other Macs and 10.3-10.8 OSX. Unless some more recent update has ruined it, not one issue.

I was using it until recently. The last few updates have borked something up for me so that it does not open the connection window as it should. I had been using Newspeak since it seems to give me a way to know about chat activity if the window is cooed/hidden.

Just tried Colloquy in the chatroom already and it seems to be working OK now.

Yay! Way to go! Open a dead thread! yadda yadda.
Ok, that's over with.

So, is the channel dead? Cant even find it anymore. Not in the channel list.

Craig, it's still there. When I had to move I had not checked it over here but just installed Colloquy. Server is irc.freenode.net. You then join #mac-forums.

Right now I am there as well as Mac Yukon.

Found it! That's what happens when you get old. Never used IRC and I miss Palace for chatting.
Going to try hanging out on some channels maybe.
