Open Finder; under Places there is a file named Pix.2 (which I suspect I created, just don't remember); cannot delete it; cannot open it; when attempting to Save As, the process appears to work OK; just can't get into the file afterward to see if the doc/.jpg/whatever, actually is there.

Solution? Many thanks.

Command click (right click) on the file and select "Get Info". At the bottom of the dialog that opens it will show what permissions the file has assigned to it. If it's protected in any way (read only), click on the small lock at the bottom and enter your admin password. After that, you can change the permissions to give yourself full read and write.

Once you've done that, close the dialog. Then drag the file to the trash.
