I have a 13" macbook that I am having issues with. First the cd drive stopped. just ejects the disk out and won't read. I also recently crashed my HD. I have a sata (from my understanding) in the macbook. I have an ata in my possession. Will the HD work and if so how can I load my op back with the cd drive not working?

No an PATA drive will not work (I am guessing you mean PATA). You need SATA.

You can restore an external HDD or thumb drive from your install DVD and use that to install OSX on a new hard drive.

ATA is PATA by its original name, and it still will not work.
