iPod-Touch screen crack

My fourth generation iPod touch's screen just cracked after i accidentally dropped it on the floor. Is there any way for me to replace the screen if so where, and are there any special cases that i could buy to prevent this from happening again.

I believe ifixit has instructions on how to replace the screen, however, I'm not certain whether they sell a replacement. You can check their website at iFixit: The free repair manual. You might also be able to find a screen on eBay.
