Macbook Pro wont read hard drive

I have a 2.16 C2D Macbook Pro that wont read the hard drive. Everytime I boot up the computer I get the flashing question mark. I tried another hard drive and got the same thing. I than tried my Snow Leopard boot disc but the disc utilty will not see the hard drive either. I can hear it power on but I dont think the computer is reading the drive. Please help

You sure the data cable isn't damaged? It is possible your replaced HDD ain't good either.

It does sound like the data cable from the hard drive to the logic board may be defective. That cable undergoes a lot of heat and over time can become brittle which causes internal breaks to it and the connectors.

Take a look at the replacement instructions: iFixit: The free repair manual They may also sell the cable. Make sure you have your model number on hand.
