Jag är bra, och du? ;)

Jag känner en bott? :p

Anyway, I'm a native French speaker, and because I started at a young age I'm luckily fluent in English as well. I also know a tniy bit of Spanish and some working Japanese because I spent my teen years there.

You've taught me to ask for a beer and how to say good morning? What kind of mornings do you generally have? :p

Let me answer that with the following statement.

Ik heb een vreselijke kater.

Ik = I
heb = have
een = a
vreselijke = terrible
kater. = hangover.

The word " kater " by itself = a male cat.

So now that you have been introduced to the Dutch etiquette, food and drinks and animal life ......exams are at end of June 2011. -_-

For clarity, Flemish is not the same as Dutch.... it looks more like Zuid Afrikaans.... we tend to keep things very simple , also in our language.

Cheers ... McBie

This is interesting, does anyone here think in a language other than English?

Haha, I'm off to study for exams. ;)

Are their significant differences between Dutch dialects? I had always planned to learn what one might call "proper Dutch" (Netherlands Dutch) but would look elsewhere if there was an easier place to start.

Dutch always seemed confusing to me...almost like a really drunk person trying to speak or write German. :)

I just realized that Dutch sounds very similar to Simlish, as in the language from the Sims. I haven't played Sim in years, but I think the Simlish language has evolved a bit, so it may not sound similar from the original Sims to the current versions. Hopefully, people who played the original Sims can agree. :p

Only when I'm in Germany, it takes a while for me to stop thinking in English and start in German.

It amazed me that 15kms down the road there is a completely different dialect in the UK.

If you want to learn a strange language with something like 350-750 different dialects within the same language, try Aust Aboriginie talk

1 Language with 700 odd different dialects . . . . . Now thats confusing
