Hi there,
i've done some research and it seems the time capsule itself cannot put out a wireless signal with BOTH 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands.
it seems that i need two routers aka my time capsule + another, one for each band respectively but it will be on one network.

okay, so i have a SMC all in one modem/wireless router from rogers that i'd like to set up as the 2.4ghz side, and then the time capsule as the 5ghz side.

currently my connections are set up like this:

Originates @ Coax cable -> SMC All in One -> Time Capsule (emits 2.4ghz signal) -> 3x ethernet connections as well.

essentially, i have 3 computers that MUST BE routed via ethernet AS WELL.

is this even possible? FML.

From everything I have read the Time Capsule (current model) is like the Airport Extreme Base Station but with a Hard Drive inside also. Both are true Dual Band.

I am using the new AEBS which is the same as TC without the hard drive and its broadcasting 5GHz to my MBP at the same time its sending out g/n 2.4 GHz to my HP.

Same as osxx - I have a dual band TC. You can even set it up as 2 different networks. For example you could have mynetwork and mynetwork5ghz -> and have all 5ghz capable devices on the mynetwork5ghz and it will only connect N 5Ghz - while all your G/B devices can go to the mynetwork. I've found that most devices are smart enough to figure out where to go so I don't use that option anymore but for sure 100% the latest time capsules are simultaneous dual band.

Anyway by default the router comes as simultaneous dual band already transmitting, your devices will figure out which band to connect to. Not everything is roses though, 5Ghz has a harder time getting through walls and metal so the range isn't as good.

I find the dual band to come in handy because even though the iPhone 4 will do n it will only do 2.4GHz and in order to keep from slowing my other equipment down when a guest or the family gets on the net this became a must not to mention that guest network.
