Installing an Onyx update & a settings question

When installing an update to the Onyx program is it necessary to un-install the previous version first?

Also, would any of you veteran Onyx users suggest what the optimal settings within the application would be to properly maintain my iMac?

2. Unless there are specific tasks that you want to individually perform, select the automation tab, and check everything except for "display of folder content" and "spotlight indexing"

*only use it every 2-3 months or so.
