I am try to update from Safari 5.0.5 to current 6.0 or better on my new MacBook Air. I continually get error messages:

"Software Update cannot connect to update server"
"An error has occurred, update could not be saved"

What is happening?

Maybe the "Software Update" server is down.

If the software server is down, then it has been so for a week or more. Does that sound right? I've been trying off and on for more than a week always with the same result. I am beginning to feel like the definition of insanity.

And The Answer Is:

Call Apple Care. They solved it first time out and with grace and dignity. Thank You Apple Support.

What did they actually say?

I'm curious because Safari 6.0 doesn't exist. The current version is 5.0.5, so you were trying to do something that is impossible*.

*As a lifelong Doctor Who fan, of course there's an easy workaround for impossible, but my TARDIS is in the shop at the moment.

Where is my Safari 6.0? What did Apple tell you as Chas is correct. There is no 6.0. That might come with OSX 10.7 Lion though, but that is not released as yet.

Sorry for the confusion. I typed Safari when I meant OS X. Apple Care sent me to a Support Download page that had an update to OS X 10.6.7 which apparently also fixed a known bug related to downloading updates.

Has anyone having issues with OS X Lion and Safari? I just upgraded and Safari won't work. I hope this is a bug some one can help me with. I have a pro Mac tower and Safari just won't connect to internet and the ball just keeps spinning.

Any help

Thank you in advance for any advice .
