Mac.Ars looks at Apple's quality control
November 3, 2003 - 10:13 EST The latest Mac.Ars column discusses Apple's quality control: "Panther and Firewire 800 drives. iTunes 4.1 for Windows and Windows 2000 installs. Really, really loud Mirror Drive Door G4s. And there's more. Apple's recent successes with the G5, iTunes Music Store, and Mac OS X 10.3 have been tempered somewhat by some rather nasty bugs that slipped out the door. Does Apple have poor quality control, or is the occasional severe bug an inevitable part of software and hardware development?"

My Comments: A lot of really good points.. and I am really happy that I didnt upgrade right away (still havent) I would not have been a happy camper with the firewire bug.. so when I do upgrade I am going to back up to both of my firewire drives.. and then.. pray! Or Ill wait until Apple comes out with a new version of Panther..

The biggest thing I've noticed since upgrading to Panther is that I've had 3 Kernel Panicks and I"ve never had them before. I have nothing external plugged in so I know it's not that issue. Oh well...I'll wait till 10.3.1 to help resolve that. It doesn't happen often, but it is kind of annoying :)

Yeah that would be :( Any idea whether or not Entourage, etc is Panther compatible?
