I know some of you guys are alot more knowledgable when it comes to displays, so fancy helping a feller out?

LG 32LE4500 32-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD LED TV: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

im thinking of this one. 32-inch, 1080p, LED, reputable brand. a very decent price too. - £290.

I want to use it with my PC/PS3 for gaming, as well as watching Blu-rays.

my budget is up to £400, but the lower I go the better (obviously). Any savings are going on an SSD.

Your thoughts? :)

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
I bought a 42" LG Plasma around 9mths ago.... and would never buy an LG TV again.
Multiple repairs, poor customer service, and dull image.
I could go on forever about it the problems it's had, and all the parts that they have replaced rather than replacing the unit, but at the end of the day, I can only say it looks good when it's powered off.

Have no idea about price and availability in the UK. Personally, Samsclub (if you have them) and Vizio TVs are hard to beat on price vs performance.

I would give the Panasonic plasmas a close look mine is going on seven years old not 1080p but 768p and still looks as good as the day I bought it just wish I could swing the
new one with 1080p and better black panel technology.

general consensus is that i should steer clear of LG? cheers for the heads up, 6string.

Razormac: we dont have them brands here :\ in fact i have never heard of them! :p

Okay, I am gonna have a look at Panasonic and Samsung now, cheers. I'd rather go with buying from a dealer like amazon, not really a fan of giving everywhere on the internet my card details :p

I would check out the new SONY range
LCD TV | Flat Screen TVs | Full HD LCD Televisions : Sony

My brother had an LG and he also said " Never again ",went for SONY and is a happy camper.
I got myself one of those SONY Internet TV's ( KDL-40NX711 ) and am very pleased with it, in terms of sound and image quality and digital connectivity options.

Cheers ... McBie

Where are you going to be listening to the audio - the TV or a separate receiver/surround system?

Do you get/want Freeview HD built in to the TV?

nah, i dont need any of that: dont watch TV at all, probably just use a set of speakers i have lying around for the audio anyway.

I do quite like Sony, but they tend to be a bit more expensive for the same features. you get what you pay for obviously, but i dont have much to juggle with.

definitely gonna look up some Samsungs, i have always loved the designs of their TVs in particular.

If you want LCD/LED look at Samsung, if you want a plasma, look at Panasonic.

That looks like a good TV set.
What I look for in a TV is the digital connectivity options.
I believe that all manufacturers have gotten the most out of the TV part and are now looking at ways on how to use that same TV to display other types of content in an integrated and easy way. ( integrated web browser, stream youtube, freeview .....etc. )

On LCD make sure its total backlit with LED and not just edge lit there is a biggg difference in picture quality.

That's the same model as the one I linked you to from Pixmania. Price is slightly better too, so well worth it.

oh, i didnt notice :p i just had a look at it in Tescos. looks really good as a TV (even though the source material they had on was shoddy, i mean, why do they do this, run SD footage on a 1080p TV) really slim, and well backlit.

I appreciate your help, guys. gonna order this on Friday. :)

I have to say, this TV is brilliant. deep clear blacks, brilliant, vibrant colours, great looks, really bright. well worth the money.

the only thing that annoys me now is it exposes all the flaws of DVD encoding! Blu Ray from now on!
