in the new 2011 Macbook Pros, what brand of HDD and SSD does macbook use?

I even called apple under the macbook pro support line thing and they say "Im sorry sir, we don't have that information."

like what is that all about how do they not know?

I figure whoever owns a macbook pro will know. thanks!

Last report was they came fitted out with a Toshiba drive. Generally Apple sources drives etc based on best tender.

It just depends. The new MBPs also have Hitachi drives. I'm not sure about the SSDs.

my 2009 and 2010 models imac/mbp both had Hitachi drives as stock.

my guess for the SSDs would be either OCZ or Intel. not sure though.

EDIT: according to this, they use Samsung SSDs (not exactly the best, but hey **)

I recall hearing Samsung as well - but was too lazy to go look. :)

If I am correct

the 7200 RPM's are Hitachi
the 5400 RPM's are Toshiba

I definitely could be wrong

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
I've seen mostly Hitachi HDs in Mac portables... 5400rpm and 7200rpm.
In one of the 2010 MBPs that I had, I had a 5400rpm WD and returned it (faulty) for the same model, which came with a Hitachi HD.
My friend's 2010 MBP who's HD I replaced, came with a Seagate.
Basically, as you can see, there is no specific brand, as it all comes down to the best deal that Apple can get at the time of production of batches of Macs.
