The 1980's might have been the last really good decade for movies.

Anyone care to share their favorites?

Lord of the Rings I, II and III
Iron Man
Galaxy Quest
Stranger than Fiction
Forrest Gump
Shindler's List
Apollo 13
Up
The Blind Side
Avatar

Oh, wait those have all been in the last twenty or so years. Don't think I agree with the premise about the 80's being the last decade for good movies. I would agree that the really great movies are few and far between though.

To be completely Honest my favorite movie of all is from the 80s

The Last Starfighter

Second fav is from 1993

Meteor Man

Neither was a box office hit or received any critical acclaim, but they both appealed to me and I re-watch them on a fairly regular basis

Hmm....

Cobra
Terminator
Commando
Back To The Future Trilogy
Aliens
The Shining

Plus too many I can't remember at the moment! I disagree about the 80's being the best time for movies though, in fact I think that a lot of great films are still being made. Granted a lot of trash too, but that has always been.
Inception is one of the greatest films of all time, and that's last year, and go back to the 70's and you have classics like One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest and Chinatown.
Just my opinion, but the 80's were actually quite poor in comparison.
