Dock folder problem

I have a folder that I use frequently for daily tasks. I dragged that folder to the dock (next to applications and documents folder), and when I click on it, it will either come up as a "fan", "grid", or "list". I'd like to be able to click on the folder and have it open in a finder window. Any way to do this?

Only way I know off, is to hold down the command key and click it.

RE: Dock problem

Thanks for the replies. Double-clicking will not open it as a finder window from the dock, but <command + click> will, so thanks for that. I had it there previously and was able to just click and open it as a new window, but then accidentally dragged it off the dock and when I put it back on there, all I can get are the fan, grid, or list views (not opening directly as a new window). Thanks.
