I was on a frequently used site and it was recommended to download Adobe to view some PDF files. After downloading Adobe I made it the default viewer and now can not view the PDF files that I used to see before doing this. I can view saved PDF files but not PDF files from this site any more. I may have also deleted a file I needed to view these. Trash bin is empty so I can't check. Is there some kind of repair application that will put these files back on the OS? i have Lepoard. Thanks for any replies.

If the Trash is empty, the files are gone. You'll need undelete software in order to recover them. However, since the hard drive is still in use, they may have already been overwritten.

Why did you download Adobe when Preview (which is built in) will allow you to view PDF files? And which browser are you using? It may as simple as making Preview the default viewer again. Have you tried that?

I'm using 10.5.8. I don't see anything in the preview preferences for making preview the default option. Where would I look for that?

I think the option for making preview the default app is in the Adobe app, since it asked you in the first place if you want to make it default.

This is strange. I looked all over Adobe preferences and saw somethig that might have been a default setting, and unchecked it. Still couldn't download the PDFs Then I trashed Adobe, emptied trash, rebooted computer, still can't get those PDFs. I don't see any thing in preview preferences about a default setting?

Well Adobe Acrobate apparently has the default PDF thing in it's preferences, while Preview has nothing from what I can see.
