Adding a symbol with iPhoto

I've forgotten how to add a line or symbol in a picture using iPhoto, any help appreciated.

You don't.

Drag the photo out onto the desktop. This creates a copy.

Open the copy in Preview. Use the annotation tools to make lines, circles, add text, etc.

Save the picture. Re-import it to iPhoto if you like.
