So I am thinking of buying a new MBP, but i was wondering if its going to last me awhile.

Currently im a engineering student at ASU, so I need a computer that can run things such as matlab, C++ programs and 3d desgign programs.

I was also thinking that it would be able to run something such as Diablo 3 / KOTOR or something when those come out.

So would the standard MBP be able to handle it, or would I have to get one with the upgraded processor?

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

The entry level early 2011 MBP model should be able to handle those applications you wish to run. What I would do is buy it with the standard size hard drive and memory. Later on you can upgrade the memory and the hard drive yourself. You can even install a SSD if you so desire.

If you're looking into the future a bit, you can always order the MBP model with the best CPU and graphics option. Of course that's going to increase the price considerably. The CPU and graphics are items that can not be upgraded later on.
