Boy it's been a while since I've been around here! Glad it's still here! Been thinking of this place lately and today I started running into a problem I can't seem to resolve. Now I have a reason (excuse) to spend some time!

Every time I log into my MBP, I get the attached message. How do I stop this from occurring???

Thanks ... and glad to be back!

~John

Did you try to uninstall Dropbox or something? You can always pull Dropbox out of your startup items, but it shouldn't be doing that anyway. Did you try to uninstall Dropbox - but not get everything? Or perhaps you need to reinstall? Just guessing until the smarter folks come along.

No, I haven't tried to uninstall it. I use it for all my critical files so I can access them from about anywhere so yes I do have it start up on login. But it gives me this error even when I close it and start it up manually.

This is where someone is likely to ask you if you've done a Permissions Repair. If you've done that - it seems you might have to visit the Dropbox support if you don't want to reinstall the program.

It almost seems its using your installer instead of the app is it listed in login items under your account and does it show up in your application folder ? I noticed over the years some apps would automatically go to apps folder after opening installer
and others had to be dragged to the apps folder.

If the permissions repair doesn't work, I'd probably remove the dropbox plist file as the next option.

You'll probably get the same window the first time you open it up after that - hopefully not after you re-enter your account info again.

Nice to see ya John.

Repairing permissions didn't work. I'd tried that before I posted. I'll try deleting the plist file if I can locate it. It's definitely not in the Preferences folder and not coming up in Spotlight.

OK, I can not, for the love of all that's good in the world, find Dropbox's plist file. Anyone have any ideas?

You're leaving because no one has an answer for you? I think you know that these forums are not staffed with paid support personnel. If your question is not answered, perhaps it's either because no one knows the answer or there may not be an answer.

In any event, we do not delete accounts.
