uptime / last reboot inconsistency

So on my Macbook Pro 10.6.6, I see

$ who -b
reboot ~ Apr 6 20:43
-------------
$ uptime
7:04 up 36 days, 10:23, 9 users, load averages: 0.37 0.37 0.32
-------------
$ last reboot

wtmp begins Mon Apr 18 09:08
-------------
So, 'who -b' and 'uptime' are reporting correct values (i know last reboot was on apr 6), but 'last reboot is wildly off by 12 days --- what gives ??

hmmmm..that is odd.....

Then again, when I run last reboot on mine it says today (13 May) when I know it was actually a few days ago. Not just you.

That explains mine....

I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, but the last reboot command is not showing you any boot at all.

The wtmp merely shows the time the log started. If there are any reboots in the log, they would appear in a list above that.

As to why the log gets interrupted or restarts, don't have a clue, but remember reading something about it 3-4 years ago - maybe with 10.5.

Yep. Mine shows the same thing which is odd. What we should see is This...
