Leave the 90's and use CSS for ALL layout (that's DIV, SPAN and styling everything else), tables are not a smart way of doing layout that will scale up and down with varying resolutions and browsers..

Plus with properly coded site using CSS, you can make style changes in the CSS files and have it take effect on the site without having to change the HTML code..

Style changes make site changes a breeze.

Divs are much easier to manipulate and give you absolute control. Tables were never really designed for the design that they were forced into taking so they were never the best. Divs for layout, its their specific function.

I fought learning CSS for a long long time and eventually caved. Its extremely easy and much better. DO IT! lol

not to mention you set global policies with the divs and they are thousands times easier to track once you know what you are doing...

It completely depends on what you're trying to do. CSS generally is better but there are times tables are a better option.

What exactly are you trying to do?

I really don`t see how tables can be easier than css. Maybe you take some time to learn css and good practices but tables makes your code looks ugly and hard to understand.

My point is, use tables IF you want to create a list, to design a page or even a section, DIV + CSS.

I learned most of my CSS from looking at the code of what was happening in design view in Dreamweaver. >_>"

Divs are better for layouts. The only time you need to do a table is if you actually need a table or spreadsheet displayed. Otherwise divs are much more useful. Also CSS is a breeze to learn and it makes the web pages so much better.
