Why do they have closed captioning on the ATV menu, but it doesn't work when you turn it on? I have tried it on several movies and it plain just doesn't work. Has anyone else complained about this?

Closed Captioning will only work if the movie supports it. Where did you get the movies from?

Netflix ..... The closed captioning works on Netflix on my PC. It sounds like the ATV is falling short here.

Netflix controls the App on AppleTV. May want to contact Netflix, it's not Apple.

Or you can immediately jump to the conclusion that it's the AppleTV also, especially when you're using a third-party service. Might as well throw it out. ;)

I was doing a little reading on CC for Netflix and it does look like a Netflix thing. They claimed last year to have stated adding CC to Netflix movies, but I couldn't find any more info. They claimed to have added CC to "Lost...Seasons 1 - 4", but I loaded it on my ATV and it doesn't CC on the ATV. Sounds like Netflix needs to do some serious catching up, especially in areas like this. People who need CC are many.

As of now Netflix does not have CC support on the AppleTV, although that may change in a later update. As far as I know, Netflix closed captions only work on computers and on the PS3. Many movies rented or purchased from apple do have closed captions. Look for the cc symbol on the movie description.

Netflix on the iPhone/iPad just got subtitle support. This makes me believe that the AppleTV is not far behind.

I think when they do ad subtitle, it will boost sales big time for them.
