Hey, I just saw this weird graphics fail in my macbook pro.

I saw it when I was playing GTA San Andreas, and parts of the screen are

weirdly distorted(kinda like mosaic??). I tried to reproduce the failure and

found out it happens when the GPU temperature goes over a certain

number(don't know exactly). So I tried with Call of Duty 4, and it happened

again!! I took a screenshot too.(see attachment, inside red circles marked with arrows)

It doesn't look too bad in the screenshot, but it's usually way worse. (About one third of the screen distorted)

Should I take this to an apple store?? I mean, I would have to play the game for about an hour to reproduce this issue, and I would feel pretty awkward playing GTA at a Genius Bar...

no. the first, GTA, is a cider port i believe, and as such will have bugs in due to the engine.

lowering the settings may help, but in general, its just a weird glitch, nothing to worry about.

I thought it might be that too, so I tried with the official retail Mac DVD, and the problem persisted. Also, Call of Duty 4 is an official Mac game, but the problem is there too.

try turning textures down, or AA. its not an issue with your hardware, its just a Glitch in the program.

Even if it is on a "Retail CD" (the ones i can see look dodgy to me) it will still be a Cider port.
