Bought my iMac (refurbished) this past February and when I was doing my research I was specifically told to get the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, so I got the 21.5 iMac, 1 TB HD, 4GB memory and the 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Now that I'm starting to see literature on OSX Lion, it looks that I may not be able to update to it, because of the processor, am I reading that incorrectly?

I would think that you're fine. I would find it pretty hard to believe that a refurbished iMac purchased in February would be "abandoned" from an OS upgrade perspective so quickly.

Could you post a link to the article/literature that you read?

Thanks

I have seen nothing that indicates the C2D would be precluded from running Lion. The core duo is another story.

Yeah, agree with bobtomay and Nick. I think you're confusing the Core Duo which reportedly may not be supported, with the Core 2 Duo which is. The reason is that Lion is all 64 bit and the Core Duo machines are 32 bit.

Think of it this way - Apple still sells two computers with a C2D and I don't think they're going to change that between now and the summer (at least for both of them). Even if they did, I find it hard to believe that they would disqualify machines that they sold only a few months before the release.

Yup, I stand corrected...
I did find the article, and indeed, it was the core duo that was mentioned, not the C2D.
I'm glad I was wrong!!!
The old wise man strikes again.
Thank you very much all.

You are reading that wrong. Developers are saying that the old first gen Core Dual 32-Bit CPU, (not the 64-bit Core2Duo) is not supported in any developer version of Lion. That was one reason I upgraded the CPU in my old Mini to a C2d.
