I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro from 2006 IIRC. It has been working fine until recently.
In the last month three things happened, which may or may not be related.
1) My power adapter died. At the local Mac store they supplied me with a new one that has a smaller adapter box than the old one. (the new adapter is 85w)
2) I bought Starcraft 2 for myself. The computer has the minimum requirements of ram and video card.
3) When I normally use the computer is gets VERY hot, but still functions properly. When I play SC, it gets very hot, and after a short while it shuts down with no warning. I can restart it immediately, but if I turn on SC, it will shut down in minutes. In order to cool the computer I have put it in the refrigerator, which helps, but not for very long. The only "lasting" solution I have found thusfar is to put an icepack under the computer which keeps it cool for a while, but once it melts, if I do not replace it, the computer will shut down again.
Am I doing something wrong? Does it have to do with the different power adapter? Please do not tell me that I have to stop playing Starcraft because I might cry if you do. Help?
