IP connection on powerbook

I seem to have a strange problem with my Powerbook G4. I have a cable internet connection which worrks very well on the PC but when I plug it into my powerbook, it loads one page and then does nothing! It just doesn't connect. Any solutions?

are your ethenet connections set for auto configure.

theres the problem most likely.

go to system preferences -> network (might be different in jaguar)
go to the ethernet card. make sure DHCP is set to auto and everything else is on automatic

thank you I will try that. But does that explain why it loaded the first page?

You maybe loading the cache page. That is my guess.

I've had weird net problems latley too... for awhile strong Flash HTML sites wouldnt load then I have had days when forums wouldn't load. But I blame that on my ISP because I have had those problems on three computers now, blated Comcast.

these ISP chaps miss a trick when it comes to the mac...too much of PCs around, I guess
