got my 12inch powerbook

well i actually baught it about 3 weeks ago, but none the less i am a new mac user. just like most schools in ontario i use to use the macs built for schools so im some what use to the mac os.

heres what i got

12-inch powerbook G4
1.55ghz
80gb
512mb ram - going to upgrade it to 1024mb (1.02g)
superdrive (dvd-r/c-rw/r)
silver ipod mini came with it
mighty mouse

i want to get more add ons but really dont know what yet. but the new ipod-nano is really luring me closer.

hey..since im new on this system i want to know some things. first on xp i could use the paint program, but on mac os i cant find any program that does the same thing. also i wanted to download some stuff (microsoft media player for mac), but it didnt seem to download. the program would download but it ssays i dont have any application to open it.

well...honestly i think that i might have made the file open under iphoto by default, and the folder is also a white folder. mostly when i download stuff like that the folder has a different image on it

actually.. i jsut downloaded the stuff it link above, and i was able to down load the media player. but now i was wondering if stuff it was already downloaded on my computer before? and if so.. how do i know which one to delete

I see.. when i moved to a mac, I ditched windows stuff all together, except for MS Office

There is a plug in that will allow quicktime to play wmv, rm, etc.... you'll have to search or ask someone as i forgot where to get it

PowerBooks come with a nice bitmap graphic app called GraphicConverter.

M Player X play .wmv files and a couple of codec that quicktime player cant play. look it up in macupdate or version tracker. it sounds like you have a sweet setup. i found that WMP for apple is just like any other microsoft product. it added a bunch of crap to my computer and i hated it.
