That just goes to show the dearth of advancements Intel made during that 3yr period.

amazing to see that a mobile version of the Sandy Bridge i7 outperforms a desktop i5 2500k at stock speeds, though that must be due to hyperthreading. and by almost 3000!

Well - it appears that I've lost the ability to edit the original post. I thought I might have a way around that by simply replacing the image that is linked there on Photobucket - but no such luck.

Thats all well-n-good but why then did you stiff me up me in the cinebench test ??

6. robduckyworth - 12.45fps, 1.35pts (C2D 2010 MBP)
10. TattoedMac - 11.36fps, 1.3pts
So why such a difference there ?? Did you up the RAM or something. All i had open was nothing apart from the Cinebench test ??!!??

Thought Nick or one of the other Mods would have said something when you mentioned it in the 1st post. If it needs editing PM one of them with the image and they can update it for you

Whoah, i just realised how badly I messed up that CPU leaderboard! definitely needs editing! sorry about that TM!

but yeah, i have upped the RAM lol.

Its strange jumbling around all those scores.

I'm benefitting from being a late switcher - just in time for Apple to make the jump to Sandy Bridge quad cores. I wonder if we'll see a step function increase like this again anytime soon (as in 5 years). The iMacs - have been more of a gradual improvement - but the MBP - a distinct jump forward.

I find the score distribution interesting. The bottom 13 are all within a 1000 points of each other but there's a > 6000 point gap between 1st and 7th.

You might find this view interesting as well - sort of illustrates what I meant. If I get enough data - I may throw a few plots together. Not enough data here to do anything really meaningful.

I am going to soft delete the post where you put the new graph and asked me to edit the 2nd post. I hope that is ok with every one!
