Hey
I have looked all over the internet but no one has come up with a sufficient answer.
I have a white MacBook & bought a Apple Remote for it.
Now, I am having trouble pairing it... I have no idea where the IR sensor is, so people are saying I don't have one but when I go into System Preferences> Security I have the option to turn the IR sensor on and off. (as shown in attachment)
Can someone please help as I really want to get this remote too work.
Thanks. :Smirk:

Yeh its brand new and I checked in the Photobooth camera that the infrared is working and it is. The problem I am having is trying to find the sensor on my computer - I cant seem to locate even though the option states I do have one. :/

What are you trying to do with the remote on the computer, what action?

Ok, have a read through this thread, and see if it helps:

Troubleshooting the Apple Remote

A bit odd really, the remote works up to 30 feet away, maybe your too close?

You don't need to pair it to get it working, just point it at your MacBook and you should see something happen (provided you haven't paired your MacBook with another remote).

The receiver is the dark spot on the front of the MacBook on the right, next to the sleep light.

I dont have the dark spot next to it, thats why I dont think I have one, but then why has Apple still given me the option to turn it on and off?

Ah right - looking at your specs it's probably one of the very new white MacBooks? It looks as though they got rid of the remote port on those…

iFixit said:
Also gone is an IR port for a remote. As far as we know, that makes the MacBook the only currently shipping Apple laptop that doesn't support a remote.

To be honest though, I only ever use the remote to adjust the volume while watching films and there are a ton of apps for the iPhone or iPad that can act as a remote for your Mac as well...
