Setting the PATH

Hello, I am having trouble adding the path (/Users/Dewi/Documents/android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools) to the PATH variable
I managed to do it temporarily but the change was not permanent.
I have been stuck on this for ages.

Code:

To add a directory path, or directory paths, to PATH (and thus creating '~/.bash_profile'):
 
01. Launch 'Terminal'.
02. Enter ...
 
echo 'export PATH=/Users/Dewi/Documents/android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools/:$PATH' >> ~/.bash_profile
 
(and press the <return> key)
 
03. Open another 'Terminal' window.
04. Enter ...
 
env
 
<return> ... and note that 'PATH' now includes your PATH.

This works fine for me, I pre-made the paths for you.
