Hello all,

I was recently given a PowerPC G5. I was wondering if someone could please tell me what is the max memory that it can hold and if I can install os x 10.6.7 on it? Here are the specs:

Processor Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5
Memory 2 GB DDR SDRAM
Model Name: Power Mac G5
Model Identifier: PowerMac7,2
Processor Name: PowerPC 970 2.2
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.1.4f0

According to Mactracker your machine can take up to 8 GB of memory. However the best version of OS X that you can run on that machine is Leopard 10.5.8. Snow Leopard will only install on an Intel machine. Yours is a Power PC.
