Recently when I use some sites that I have used in the past I recive a warning saying "visiting this site may harm your computer... appears to contain malware...for detailed information visit..." some google safe site.

Just wondering if the warning is for legitimate malware or not? I've just be closing out my browser when it appears

Sometimes those warnings are valid and other times they're not. Please read our Sticky post regarding Viruses and Malware: LINK

I believe Safari uses Google' Safe Browsing service to check websites to see if they're malicious. This feature is enabled through Safari > Preferences > Security > "Warn when visiting a fraudulent website." It's very possible that this is what you saw. Do you have the full message that you receive?
