IBOOK G4 Not saving pictures. HELP!

I just bought an IBOOK G4 today. It was working fine until it told me to restart. When I did, everything I put on it like music and such was erased. I added it in again, but this time when I restarted everything stayed the same. Now, the problem is, I cannot save pictures off the internet. I choose the option "save to desktop" but when I check the desktop, its not there. But when I was using it first and hadn't restarted it yet, it let me save pictures from the net.I keep restarting it hoping that it'll work again, but its not.

Anyone have this same problem?

I have never had that problem. The easiest way I have found to save pics from the net though, is to just drag and drop them to somewhere (folder, desktop, etc)

I don't like Safari, anyway.
