Lately I have noticed that my DVD-RW drive will only play CDs. It doesn't seem to recognize DVDs, and it will not display photos on CD or DVD. I also cannot burn CDs, or DVDs or photos any more. Is there a way to reprogram the unit? Is this easily repairable?

What would you reccommend using to clean. Do I have to remove the drive to do this?

Don't have to remove it. Just open the tray, and blow some "canned" air inside. No guarantees...but cheaper than replacing the drive.

If this doesn't work...and you've tried a bunch of different DVD's (and it still doesn't read them)...maybe time for a new drive. $29.99 from these guys:

Samsung SH-S222 Int 22X DVD/CD 'Super-MultiDrive' DVD... $29.99 at OWC

Good luck,

- Nick
