modem cable stuck

How do I remove my modem cable from the back of my Mac Pro? I'm afraid if I use too much force then a piece of the connector will break off and remain lodged. Please help.

How is it stuck? The connectors have a little plastic tab on the top that you press down and then pull out.


Is part of that broken? What's causing you an issue?

I have pinched the tab off and on for the last 4 years ... it won't budge. I remember seeing similar cables for sale labeled "non-sticking" or something along those lines so I'm guessing this was am issue around 2007+. Thank you for responding.

Squeeze the area above and below where the tab broke off and gently rock the connector back and forth until it pulls loose. You may also be able to use a needle nose pliers to apply pressure rather than your fingers.

I've had ethernet cables stick in computers and also in commercial telephone equipment and usually that's the way they'll come loose.
