So I've got a mid 2010 macbook pro and since the day I got it, it has never been able to recover from a drained battery. If the battery gets low enough to where the computer goes to sleep, when I plug the charger into it, that grey screen will appear and fill up about a quarter of those bars and then it will just freeze. I've tried waiting forever and the only way to recover it is to do a hard reset. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks

Have you tried restoring the computer or doing a permissions check?

Try a SMC reset. See the following Apple KB article: LINK
