Searched for multitouch and didn't see anything in this forum nor in the iOS Apps forum.
With the release and review of the Blackberry Playbook - everyone seems to be touting the app switching of the Playbook. I admit it seems like a good idea - swipe to and from the bezel to get to different programs and menus.

That being said - the iPad is also capable of using gestures to switch between apps, and view the "running" toolbar. (After typing all this up I see it is called the multitasking bar in settings on the iPad)

For the Windows folks
Enable Multi-touch Gestures on iPad without jailbreaking
Or you could just find a buddy with a Mac and have him/her enable it for you.
Here is a video demonstrating the gestures

but to summarize
4 finger swipe left/right - switch apps left/right (as they are on the "running bar")
4 finger swipe up - show "running bar"
4 or 5 finger pinch - show the home screen
I find myself using these gestures more than the home button.
I've also noticed on some of the Playbook demonstrations the gestures don't always work - or get recognized as another gesture - if you don't start from beyond the bezel. Of course - when I use Atomic Web on the iPad - whenever I put down 4 fingers - it recognizes a 3 finger tap and puts me in fullscreen mode - so the iPad has its caveats as well.
