start-up disk full (?)

I have a virtually new Powerbook G4, with very few additional aps installed (ie Office). Today I got a yellow warning flag with the message "your start-up disk is almost full. please delete files...". How can this be? And where can I find the disk and the files referred to? I've checked and have plenty of memory. Thanks.

Just so you know, Memory is not the same as HD space.
How big is your HD? If you are not sure, just highlight your HD and do a "Get Info" on it. That will give you the Capacity of the drive and how much Available space you have.
You might want to run an app like Cocktail, which would clear caches and such, and also run a Permissions Repair.

i dont have no mac's
there is a program, but the name escapes me right now, that will tell you how many files you have, what type of files and what not on your start up disk, and any other drive you have

FYI: your startup disk is your main HD inside your powerbook

do you have a lot of MP3's? pictures or movies?
