I recently was given a 15 in powerbook with a display issue. When you power it on, grey squares/lines are going down the screen, it is also looks staticy and is very difficult to read. Several reboots, samething. I hooked up a known working external monitor and the samethng is happening. I was wondering if this is a VRAM issue and the logic board would need to be replaced. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Most likely, yes. The fact that an external display exhibits the same behavior would isolate it to the video hardware, which is soldered fast to the logic board.
