going out of country for maybe 5 days, not taking laptop with me. should i leave plugged into outlet and surge suppressor or unplug and let it be on battery? if the latter, and battery is completely discharged, just plug in again? won't lose anything, right? thanks. am powerbook G4, 133 GHz.

I would just shut it down (turn it off) and unplug it. That's the safest way to leave it. The battery will not discharge if it's turned off (at least not over the span of a week, or even a month).
