Ipod not recognised by computer now ipod stuck on do not disconnect screen!

mac ver 10.6.6 and its an oldish ipod (30gb) probably the lastest one before they did the major design overhaul.

What can i do to get my ipod back it won't even turn off, stupidly i did disconnect it as it wasn't being recognised and therefore i couldn't safely eject it. Please help.

Try a reset - you want the one that says "with a click wheel".

After years of using this version of IPOD here are a few tips 4 u .
Dont panic .Let the battery drain out and recharge -ie leave it on in its jammed state. Recharge the IPOD and reset the firmware via the reset switch once you have connected it to ITUNES . Another tip is next time wait till the Itune has finished update and click the switch (not the wheel) backward and forward before switching off !Happy days !:)

If your Itunes does not recognise your IPOD check that the computer sees the USB connection -download the S/W from apple site .That is probably where your fault is ? If it sees it then ITUNES will see it -may take a few minutes?
