formatting a replacement hard drive in an emac

I need help getting 1ghz emac to recognise a replacement hard drive in order to then install os 10.4 Hard drive previously formated for a pc

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Got the Tiger install disc? Crack the eMac and pop the hdd in, boot from the Tiger disc by holding down 'C';, go to Utilities, Disk Utility and format Mac OS Extended (Journalled), back to Installer and run Tiger.

If you do not have the Tiger disc then you have big problems.

Solved thanks

I had done google search and using disc utility on install disc i was not seeing the hard drive. Found with jumper on the right points it works much better thanks.
