Editing Footnotes in Pages

I am writing an academic paper and my professor showed how to set up the footnotes in Microsoft Word so that they appear "below the text" rather then at the bottom of the page. She said this keeps the footnote a consistent distance from the text and will fluctuate the bottom margin. From the footnoting I have done in Pages, it seems that they automatically appear at the bottom of the page retaining your specified bottom margin and fluctuate the space between the text and footnotes. Is there a way to change this format?
