Hi,
I have my mac set to require a password after sleep or screen saver begins. As such, after it has started the screensaver or gone to sleep, I get the login window prompting me for username and password. If I mistype my username, it takes over 75 seconds to tell me incorrect name or password. During this time, I do not get the beach ball, but the OK and cancel buttons are greyed out, so I just have to wait.
This does not occur on the bigger login screen after booting up or switching users on fast-switching. This also does not occur if I type the correct username but incorrect password. In each of these other cases, it will quickly log me in if I type it correctly and quickly inform me that is it is incorrect.
I have tried
1. Create a new account. Same thing happens on the other account.
2. Repairing permissions.
3. Software update. Everything is up to date.
I have a
MacPro 2 x 2.8GHz Quad-Core
Memory: 18 GB
500 GB hard drive (431.65 GB available)
OS X 10.6.7
with external drive
OWC Mercury Elite AL Pro set up on Time Machine.
There are 4 accounts on my computer, including the Guest account.
I do not have many things on my Login items.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
