Macbook won't install real player

My dad owns a Macbook. I hate these computers with a passion, they aren't easy to figure out, and we are always having problems with it. My dad was using the computer the other day and in order for him to listen to his online radio show the computer said that he needed to install the latest real player. The computer would not let him install it. He said he tried restarting it with no luck.

This isn't the first time this has happened. It also happens with adobe updates.

What is going on? How do we fix this? Thank you!

Can you be a little more specific? Is there an error message or a sequence of events that leads up to it not "letting him install it"?

My dad will not let me touch his computer so I can see exactly for myself. He also isn't around for him to show me. He said "I click on install and nothing happens, I click and I click and I click, and nothing!"
